Hello lovelies – I’m excited for today’s post because it’s my first ever blog collab!!! I’ve been wanting to collab on my blogs for awhile now, but never got around to it. So up until my 22nd birthday last month, I never wore highlighter. I never felt the need to highlight my face, especially because I never wore foundation, so I didn’t feel it was necessary. However, my brother and his girlfriend gave me makeup for my birthday and one of them was a Hard Candy highlighter! Below I’ll feature the name, brand, and swatch – compared to Benefit’s Watts Up!
As you can see, both swatches are pretty similar. However, the Watts Up is lighter in color, and of course, the texture is creamy vs the Hard Candy one which isn’t. I’ve been using the Hard Candy one almost daily, being as I’m not too big of a fan of creamy products. However, that doesn’t mean Watt’s up isn’t a great product! This was a sample size I got from Sephora on my birthday last year and since you don’t need loads – it’ll last for a LONG time! The Hard Candy highlighter I’ve been using for about a month now and you can see it still has it’s shape! I’ll own this literally until I’m like 90! Gotta love finding affordable products that are long-lasting!!
A trend I never got into, personally, was the light under-eye highlight, or as most people like to call it, ” kim kardashian” makeup. This was one trend I never bothered practicing on myself, because for starters, I thought it would look weird on me. I was worried about not blending it enough, or just looking scary. However, I attempted it, and now I’m slightly obsessed. Unlike Kim Kardashian, and other MUAs, I like mine more blended. I don’t like it to be so visible and so light, I like the effect, but I just don’t like it to show too much.
In the picture below, you can’t tell that I have my under-eye highlighted, but oh boy, trust me, I do. I mean, what DON’T I have in that picture…It doesn’t even look like me! Lmao! I contoured loads with my new favorite contouring product (I’ll blog about it soon 😉) Anyways, anyone else love this look ?! I’m seriously obsessed!
If you’d like to know more about the products I’m wearing in this pic, let me know in the comments below & I’ll make a whole post entitled to it! It might not look like much, but I definitely did have loads layered ;P x
Today’s post is on washing makeup brushes. I’m not a professional nor am I a licensed makeup artist, however, this method works best for me and my brushes & my opinion/ technique is what I’m sharing with you on this post.
Pretty much all I do is: mix my soap (baby shampoo) & oil (coconut oil) in a container, dip the brush & swirl until it rinses clear. You can use this technique for any soap + oil. I’ve done it with shampoo, Dawn dish soap + olive oil. This is the first time I’ve done it with coconut oil and I prefer it, because this particular jar from Trader Joe’s does have a scent/flavor.
(Sorry for the large photos – but, the better to see with my dear, right? right? get it? no? okay.)
& As they’re drying, I pick a few up one by one & fluff them up with my fingers to make sure they’re drying nicely and not losing their shape. This is how I deep clean my brushes about every 2 weeks! Please if you know any quicker ways to clean brushes in between deep washes – LET ME KNOW! This method is too tedious to do every. single. time! hahah! Thank you!!!
Any questions, comments or concerns? Leave them down below! x
Here’s a quick post on one of my new favorite lip combos for super bright, pink lips! All you need is two lipsticks – no liner, no gloss!
First apply L’Oreal Vivids lipstick in the color 875 Vivid Rose & then layer Wet N Wild’s 910D in Red Velvet on top! That’s it! Super simple, super bright! Perfect for a night out during the summer!
I’ve worn this look twice and each time I always get complimented on it! It’s super easy and only requires 3 products! This look can be done with any color, as long as you have an eyeliner pencil & eyeshadow that match!
1. Apply NYX Jumbo Pencil in the color Purple, all over lid. Blend. Then add a purple eyeshadow over the cream base, for this look, I used the color Hollywood from BH Cosmetics‘ California Palette Trio.
2. Blend with a deep brown color in the crease; for this look, I used SLEEK from The Balm’s NudeTude palette.
That’s it! See!!? Super easy! These pictures don’t do this look justice! It’s much more vibrant in person!
